The Anatomic Pathology Laboratory is looking for a Casual Secretary for our Consultation Services team.

Job Duties
The work is primarily based in our administrative office area however the position does include:

  • Maintaining Pathology Archives which requires transporting and retrieving case materials between the 6th floor laboratory and the 1st floor archive room
  • Retrieval, filing and return of completed Pathology cases\consultations
  • Retrieval of cases from filed archive material as requested


 Job Requirements
  • Successful completion of a Secretarial diploma from an accredited educational institution
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data entry
  • Climbing safety ladders to retrieve case material, consolidation and labeling of materials for archiving
  • Medical terminology skills; completion of anatomic medical terminology course preferred
  • Pathology experience is an asset
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated customer service skills with a professional demeanor
  • Attention to detail with the ability to multitask and set priorities in a high volume setting
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team player in a challenging and changing environment
  • Flexibility to change between tasks or perform multiple tasks when staffing is short
  • Demonstrated problem solving and time management skills with the ability to meet appropriate deadlines and ensure effective workflow
  • Ability to maintain electronic, paper and materials filing systems where accuracy and associated documents details are critical
  • Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history is required
  • Support requests from Pathologists, Residents and Laboratory to collect signed out cases & deliver materials for case review daily
  • Return of materials received for consultations that are completed to referring facility
  • Other duties as required
**Applicants will be required to complete an assessment of order matching, filing and retrieval exercises at the time of interview with a minimum 70% score required
