    What you'll do
  • Reporting to the Director, People Analytics & Compensation, the HR Advisor, Classifications and Compensation provides expertise in the development, implementation, and administration of the University's compensation programs. This position is a key resource in support of managers, directors, deans, exempt and support staff in implementing wage and salary administration, job evaluation, and organizational redesign initiatives to provide coordinated services on compensation matters. The HR Advisor, Classifications and Compensation also participates on special assignments, projects, and initiatives.
  • Conducts job comparison research for individual positions or groups of positions. Makes decisions regarding the selection of internal and external comparator positions in the process of evaluating jobs.
  • Provides guidance in position review for internal equity considerations. Provides total compensation analysis for key positions to attract, retain, and maintain market competitiveness.
  • Supports managers in developing job descriptions used in talent acquisition/retention, employee development, succession planning, and performance management.
  • Conducts job analysis for support staff positions and excluded positions including interviewing employees and managers and analysing job class specifications or benchmark grids. Maintains uptodate records of job descriptions, job classifications and job evaluation results for support staff and excluded positions.
  • Works with PSEA to maintain uptodate job descriptions in the HRDB web portal.
  • Participates in enterprise resource systems reviews and implementations as it relates to compensation and classification.
  • Identifies process improvements related to job evaluation process and recommends solutions and participates in the development of related tools.

What you'll bring

  • Completion of a postsecondary degree in Human Resources Management, or equivalent postsecondary education in a directly related field.
  • Minimum of five years' related experience in compensation, classification, or job evaluation. Preference for HR experience in postsecondary, public sector or large, complex multiunion organizations
  • CPHR or CCP designation considered an asset.

  • This position has a salary range of $$74,168 (minimum) to $98,891 (midpoint) to $108,780 (maximum) per annum. Employment offers will typically be made between the minimum and midpoint of the range and are determined by knowledge, experience and internal equity.
