Position Summary:Working as a member of the Central Registration team, the Registration Clerk is responsible for first contact customer service activities related to the collection, verification and recording of information from out patients who attend the hospital for appointments for clinics, diagnostic tests or procedures.


Participates in department and hospital-wide activities and programs that model and promote a safe and healthy patient-centered environment and that contribute to quality improvement and risk management initiatives.


Education and Experience:

  • 2 year Medical Office Administration diploma
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working in a clerical/administrative capacity required, preferably within a hospital or health care environment
  • Successful completion of medical terminology certificate
  • Experience in a customer service with preference given to individuals who have worked in a medical, health care or hospital environment

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Keyboarding skills at a minimum of 45 wpm
  • Exceptional computer skill in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Explorer and Internet
  • Organizational and reception skills
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with the public and to relate in a tactful and sensitive manner with staff, patients and visitors
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and spoken communications
  • Able to work well under pressure and ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
  • Able to work a variety of shifts, as necessary, to ensure coverage of Central Registration functions
  • Good attendance and availability required
