We are looking for a Community Events Co-Ordinator in our Philanthropy department.

Reporting to the Director, Philanthropic Operations, the Lead is responsible for the growth of current and new, exciting community initiatives and events through building relationships, cultivating new opportunities, enhanced stewardship and community engagement as an ambassador for the Alberta Cancer Foundation.

The Community Events Co-Ordinator will oversee, execute and manage a portfolio that includes the following:

  • Community Initiatives: Events led or hosted by a third party, community group(s) or volunteers that may be one time or annual in nature.
  • Partnership Initiatives: Community events that require greater involvement and expertise by the Community Relations team that may have the potential to raise significantly more funds and have longer sustainability.
A typical day for you in this role might include:

  • Managing various community initiatives and events as per Service Level Agreements, including risk identification and mitigation.
  • Managing professional relationship with assigned donors, establishing solicitation strategies that are meaningful to both the donor and the Alberta Cancer Foundation
  • Leading in direct solicitation of donors and sponsors; supporting volunteers in their fundraising activities on behalf of the Foundation
  • Providing meaningful and timely stewardship to donors and sponsors including tours, hosting meetings and distribution of progress reports to donors
  • Data entry to ensure Community Relations donor records are up to date and accurate in our database, Raiser's Edge
  • Handling event proceeds in accordance with Foundation Cash Handling and Reconciliation policies and procedures
  • Ensuring event compliance required for insurance purposes, AGLC reporting and any other external reporting
This job might be for you if you have:

  • An outgoing personality with the ability to development and maintain a successful relationship with anyone
  • A proven track record of success and demonstrated knowledge of fundraising, in particular event fundraising and some demonstrated early success or exposure to relationshipbased or peertopeer fundraising
  • Intermediate knowledge of CRA regulations and charitable gift receipting guidelines
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail, and ability to be able to respond quickly, on time and manage frequent interruptions while working on multiple projects
  • An outgoing personality, a flexible schedule, and a desire in your heart to make a difference for Albertans facing cancer.

Your Qualifications:

  • Postsecondary degree in a relevant discipline including Business, Marketing, Communications, and/or combination of education, experience and training acceptable to the Foundation.
  • Minimum 35 years of relevant fundraising experience
  • Experience in the development and maintenance of internal relationships both with other departments whose work directly impacts the required outcomes from this position and related external stakeholders (i.e. donors, front line Cancer Care staff).
  • Valid Driver's License is Required
**This position is an anticipated 3 months of employment from hire date.
