This role will work in collaboration with all key BGIS departments to ensure full support of all activities and play a key role in our INTEGRATED approach to operating buildings.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety Ownership and Regulatory Compliance

  • Comply with all internal and external requirements including but not limited to environmental, health and safety, fire protection and mandated by BGIS Health Safety and Environment Teams and enforced by law.
  • Researches, outlines, writes, and edits new and existing content by working closely with BI Development, BI SC and Corporate BI to capture and understand requirements.
  • Creates and maintains a master data dictionary to identify the entire data currently exist in our data warehouse which will serve as a concise guide for the business in understanding and using the data in their dashboards or reports.
  • Works with BI Development, BI SC and Corporate BI leads to identify all documentation repositories, revisions and edits, and determines the best solution for data compilation and centralized storage.
  • Researches, creates, and maintains information architecture templates that uphold organizational and legal standards, and allow for easy data migration.
  • Develops content in alternative media forms for maximum usability, with a consistent and cohesive voice across all documentation. Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Certificate in Technical Writing and/or University degree in a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years' working experience as a technical writer.
  • An ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures.
  • Previous experience writing documentation and procedural materials for multiple audiences.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to deliver high quality documentation with strong attention to detail.
  • Eye for design and ability to create and modify templates for accessibility and visual harmony.
  • Experience working with development to improve user experience: design, UI, and help refine content and create visuals and diagrams for technical support content.
  • Expert knowledge of collaboration tools such as Confluence.
  • Proficiency with MS Office tools: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, Access.
  • Basic knowledge of business intelligence concepts and tools.
  • Ability to read SQL and understand common database concepts.
  • Fluency with Digital Tools.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, with an eye for prioritization.
  • Firm understanding of the systems development life cycle (SDLC).
  • Previous software development experience.
  • Certification through the Society for Technical Communicators.
  • Experience using XML tools to create documentation.
