D U T I E S
The Administrative & Triage Coordinator (ATC) is responsible for providing reception,
administrative and intake support to Student Support Services (SSS) units including Student
Counselling Services, Student Accessibility Services, and Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services. As
a front-line representative, the ATC provides friendly and compassionate reception to students,
staff and the public. The incumbent assesses counselling and accessibility service requests,
triaging based on urgency and student needs. This includes conducting an initial risk and safety
assessment of students in crisis and arranging for immediate support. The incumbent receives
requests for service, gathers and assesses critical information, and schedules appointments. The
manages and stores confidential information, runs data reports and maintains an electronic
database. Other duties include maintaining an inventory of office supplies, operating and
troubleshooting issues related to office equipment, creating purchase and work orders,
overseeing staff online attendance, assisting in the onboarding of new SSS staff, attending staff
meetings and recording minutes. Other duties include updating forms, website content, and
promotional materials, and providing administrative support to SSS as time allows.

  • R E Q U I R E D Q U A L I F I C A T I O N S
  • Administrative Assistant Certificate from a recognized postsecondary institution. A
- combination of related education and experience will be considered.
  • Significant experience providing administrative support and performing office administrative

- responsibilities
  • Training in crisis response (e.g. Psychological or Mental Health First Aid; SafeTALK)
  • Experience working with persons with disabilities
  • Experience working with individuals struggling with poor mental health
  • Experience in navigating community resources and making appropriate referrals
  • Superior customer service skills and the ability to respond calmly, effectively and
- empathetically in stressful situations
  • Knowledge of the Accessibility for Manitobans Act and the Human Rights Code, including the

- duty to accommodate
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
  • Superior Microsoft Office Skills and the ability to learn new software
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to exercise tact, discretion and

- diplomacy
  • Effective problem solving, analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Exceptional organization and time management skills; ability to work under pressure, with tight
- timelines, and respond to multiple demands
  • Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning
and continuous improvement

  • Post-Secondary Education in a relevant field required (e.g. Business Administration, Bachelor
- of Social Work, Psychology, Disability Studies, Humanities)
  • Additional training in mental health and disability awareness, nonviolent crisis communication
and intervention, being trauma informed, suicide intervention. Experience in crisis

  • Experience working in a postsecondary environment
