Community and Recreation Facilities is a dynamic Branch that is responsible for the development, management, animation and preservation of over 50 popular recreation facilities including pools, arenas, golf courses, and a collection of attractions and specialty facilities.

The Customer, Analytics and Digital Transformation section is seeking an Analytics Specialist who will be responsible for collecting and interpreting data in order to support data-driven decision-making at all levels, including among Branch Leadership.

What will you do?

  • Create and maintain data visualizations using Tableau, by capturing a variety of data from primary or secondary sources
  • Prepare and format periodic month-end and year-end reports for attendance, revenue, utilization and other measures
  • Prepare analytical and other data-related support for annual space allocation projects
  • Interpret business information by applying specialized and complex statistical techniques, while maintaining quality control, accuracy and relevance
  • Collect, compile and maintain Branch performance measure data, and support performance measure reporting
  • Assist with automating reports to support greater efficiency and monitor the effectiveness of automated reporting made available to staff
  • Identify data needs involved in specific business questions
  • Interpret technical data using mathematical formulas, operations research, and other statistical techniques to analyze results
  • Prepare forecasts using past, current and future trends, and identify any patterns
  • Train end users on reports and dashboards and explain the processes involved in developing models and reports
  • Provide information and expertise to improve business processes
  • Participate in learning how the new Recreation and Attractions Management System operates, and provide expert knowledge to section staff
Qualifications

Qualifications :

  • University degree in Computing Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics or Commerce. A related discipline may be considered
  • A minimum of 2 years experience in data analysis (descriptive, inferential, predictive), including analyzing business performance

Assets:

  • Project management experience
  • Certification in project management, change management, business analysis
  • Experience with Google Applications and SAP

Skills required for success:

  • Technical expertise in database management, analysis and report creation
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Knowledge of modeling, operational research and statistical techniques
  • Ability to express ideas effectively (orally and in writing), and prepare and present technical briefs and reports
  • Ability to effectively gather, synthesize, integrate and interpret information from a wide range of resources and perspectives
  • Excellent communication, organization, time management and prioritization skills
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python for data manipulation and analysis
