Our software-controlled Engineered SunlightTM technology acts as a foundation to replicate geography-, season-, and altitude-specific natural lighting environments, as well as create light which matches the spectrum, uniformity, and stability requirements of scientific standards.

We are an agile team that functions on a startup-style culture based on quick learning, honesty and personal development, flexibility, and balance.

This is an 8-12 months internship hybrid role, with some on-site work required at our Edmonton office.

Summary

The Data Analytics Engineer-In-Training Intern will report directly to the Associate Product Manager and is responsible for programming, hacking, building, and ultimately delivering support to the lean product development of intelligent lighting products.

This individual is a quick learner who is able to take direction well, while bringing strong initiative to their daily work. This individual's 'can do' attitude, strong capacity for problem solving, enthusiasm, resourcefulness and reliability will contribute positively to the team and organizational goals.

Primary Responsibilities

    • Programming & scripting to solve a variety of engineering and customer problems
    • Performing data analysis, data management, and building/managing data pipelines
    • Designing, executing, and analyzing engineering experiments related to producing, detecting, and ultimately controlling precise light sources
    • Verification and writing of product documentation
  • Genuine curiosity and care about the things that matter to our customers to aid customer discovery efforts
  • Gather, synthesize and present information in a coherent manner

Target Skills & Qualifications

The successful candidate will have:

  • Graduated or is currently enrolled in a Engineering, Computer Science Degree or Technical study program
  • General programming know-how, scripting, and familiarity with code environments in both Windows and Linux
  • Data analytics experience - ability to comfortably use Python, Pandas, Numpy to manipulate and analyze datasets
  • Applied knowledge of optics and sensors to understand the context of work is an asset
  • Study in Electronics Engineering and embedded systems is an asset
  • Demonstrated organization, project management skill
  • Proficiency in spreadsheet work
  • Detail-oriented and able to adapt to rapidly changing work priorities
  • Experience with version control, document control, and documentation an asset
  • Experience with external customer facing conversations and discovery an asset
