Your Role at Baxter:

  • Prepare (lining and priming) Dialysis machines (water and dialysis) for use by patients
  • Inspect, clear alarms and perform minor troubleshooting/repairs, clean and disinfect machines
  • Note Inventory of supplies
  • Set up and transport acute care machines outside the dialysis unit.
  • Prepare dialysis bags for treatment runs
  • Marshal machines within unit as required.

Your Team:

Our Technical Aide's provides technical assistance in a Dialysis Unit at a hospital/clinic.

They are responsible for preparing all machines (water and dialysis) for use by patients, inspecting and clearing alarms, performing minor troubleshooting repairs on machines, monitoring communication software to ensure patient date is being captured, print reports through Exalis for use by nurses, clean and disinfect machines as required, order supplies, set up and transport acute care machines outside the dialysis unit as required, make up dialysis bags for treatment runs and marshal machines within unit as required.

This position is responsible for ensuring that direct reports are trained to, and comply with applicable Quality Management Procedures.

What you'll be doing:

  • Turn on water treatment, note any problems and make note of alarm(s). Check for chlorine, water system checks performed. Every morning put machines into rinse mode.
  • Remove any machines in the unit that are not being used.
  • Line and prime machines; record lot numbers of dialyzers and bloodlines on Run Sheet.
  • Prepare offunit machines for acute patients as required by Charge Nurse
  • Check with nurses to ensure there are no problem alarms
  • Check with charge nurse and determine the patients that are to be dialyzed off unit (acute patients)
  • Setup another acute machine for treatments, if required.
  • Disinfect spare machines and specific machines, if not disinfected within the last 48 hours.
  • Ensure technical water hookup box has all components present.
  • Record pressures, and any other relevant information, in log book
