Position Summary


Under the direction of the Director of IT within the Informational Technology Department, the responsibilities of the Desktop Support Technician include providing administrative and clerical support to all departments within DASCH.

Their primary focus may be in the areas of computer operations, user and desktop support and data management. Performs a variety of moderately complex information technology support duties to ensure smooth delivery of technology services.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Track and document information related to our internal systems to remain up to date of ongoing on our system
  • Process documentation and prepare reports relating to IT to provide to leadership for review and analyzing
  • Coordinate IT projects such as new technological roll outs as required
  • Administer user accounts for all staff as updates and changes are needed
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose problems, implement corrective action procedures within prescribed guidelines and/or escalate to other technical resources as appropriate
  • Set up and configure desktop computers, peripherals and accounts assigning security level
  • Install software and install and repair hardware and peripherals to maintain DASCH technological devices
  • Act consistently in the workplace according to basic values of honesty and openness
  • Occasional travel to DASCH homes and Day Programs as required for review or set up of technological devices
  • Other IT administrative duties as required

Skills & Qualifications

  • Graduate of a Certified IT/Technical Training Program and/or related work experience (current Microsoft Certificates preferred)
  • MS Office 365 experience
  • Extensive knowledge of PC configuration and a Microsoft networking environment
  • Good understanding DSL, VPN, Vlans and Routers
  • Extensive knowledge of the TCP/IP suite of protocols
  • Understanding of virtualization technologies from VMware and Microsoft
  • Familiar with Android and iPhone iOS
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills are necessary
  • Must possess the ability to effectively work in an organized, efficient, neat manner; attention to detail
  • Must be selfmotivated, capable of independent reasoning and troubleshooting, and possess the ability to work reliably and responsibly both independently and in a team environment
  • Relevant valid industry certifications are an asset
  • Possess a valid, Manitoba Class 5 Driver's License, with access to a vehicle
