Job Summary:


The Immigrant Youth Employment Specialist will assist newcomer youth ages 15-30 to reach their education and employment goals through coaching, case management, and workshops.

The Specialist will also network with local employers to create employment opportunities for newcomer youth.

Your Role:

Archway's Immigrant Youth Employment Specialist with the Youth Employment Skills Strategy (YESS) Program contributes by:

  • Providing individual coaching to clients to help them with resume writing, job search techniques, labour market information, career and/or education planning, assessment tools, and workshops.
  • Providing oneonone support to clients with barriers to employment or education using case management principles such as goal setting and barrier identification to create a plan and track progress.
  • Networking with local employers to create job placement opportunities for newcomer youth.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with internal and external community partners, including prospective employers.
  • Planning and facilitating monthly employment workshops.
  • Actively recruiting new clients for coaching, case management, and workshops to meet program targets.
  • Working with the clients' existing support networks and providing referrals to address other settlement needs, as required.
  • Maintaining knowledge of relevant employment and educational programs and opportunities for youth.
  • Maintaining accurate client records, tracking progress, and preparing reports as needed.
  • Responding to internal and external communication including providing program information, developing employer relationships, and collaborating on workshops or other initiatives.


This position is a great fit for someone who enjoys working with youth from diverse cultural backgrounds, has good facilitation skills, and is knowledgeable about the local labour market.


Our Offer:

  • Wage: $ 23.00 per hour
  • A parttime position at 14 hours per week, availability Mondays to Fridays, and some weekends
  • Temporary until March 31, 2024

Getting an Interview-you will be considered if you have:

  • Completed Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Career Development Practitioner Certificate is an asset.
  • Experience engaging and working with youth and/or people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Experience planning and facilitating workshops, especially with an employment focus.
  • Class 5 Driver's License is an asset.
  • Ability to speak Dari and/or Pashto is an asset.

The Job Requires you to have:

  • Experience using case management principles in providing services to clients.
  • Strong knowledge of the local labour market and job search strategies.
  • Strong knowledge of best practices in employment skills including resume and cover letter writing and formatting, networking, interviewing.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian workplace cultural norms.
  • Welldeveloped written, verbal, and active listening skills; able to communicate effectively and respectfully with people with a variety of language abilities.
  • Welldeveloped organizational and computer skills, including O365 and social media.
  • Effective problemsolving skills.
  • The ability to drive clients with an agency vehicle.
  • The ability to work with people in difficult or crisis situations.
  • A satisfactory criminal records check is a condition of employment.
