Eligible applicants MUST**:

- Be between the ages of 16 and 30 years at the start of their employment at Archway;

- Be a Canadian citizen, immigrant, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment;

- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment;

o Be legally entitled to work in Canada according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.

o International students are NOTeligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian citizens or permanent residents.

The Canada Summer Jobs program objectives are to:

  • provide quality experiences for youth;**
  • respond to national and local priorities to improve access to the labour market for youth who face unique barriers to employment, i.e., youth who are early leavers of high school, not in employment, education or training; black and other racialized youth; youth with disabilities; Indigenous youth; and

- provide opportunities for youth to develop and improve their skills.

Job Summary:


The Canada Summer Jobs Seniors Community Service Worker is responsible for conducting a needs assessment for low-income, vulnerable seniors in the community, and identifies needs, barriers and concerns.

Additionally, the Seniors Community Service Worker provides support for team members for other Seniors Programs and ensures effective program delivery consistent with Archway and the program's mandates and standards.


Your Role:

Archway's Seniors Community Service Worker with the Seniors Services Program contributes by:

  • Conducting a needs assessment of the low-income, vulnerable senior population in the community.
  • Engaging in onetoone support with each client.
  • Identifying needs, barriers, and concerns.
  • Conducting followups with clients to assess progress and ensure ongoing support.
  • Ensuring information collected is complete and accurate and reflects the needs of the community.
  • Assisting in the coordination of events to support the seniors' community.
  • Providing support to team members for various seniors' programs, e.g., Meals on Wheels, Better at Home, Community Van, and Social Prescribing programs.


This position is a great fit for someone who demonstrates empathy and passion in working closely with seniors, and understands the barriers and challenges faced by the seniors vulnerable population.


Our Offer

  • Wage:$15.65 per hour ($16.75 per hour as of June 01, 2023)
  • A fulltime position at 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Getting an Interview - you will be considered if you have:

  • Experience in gathering and analyzing data and information.
  • Work experience or lived experience supporting seniors is preferred.
  • Experience engaging with adults of diverse abilities is preferred.

The Job Requires you to have:

  • Knowledge of barriers, challenges, concerns, risk factors and issues faced by vulnerable populations.
  • Verbal, written and active listening skills and able to communicate respectfully, clearly, and effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.
  • Ability to wear a face mask during inperson services.
  • Eligibility to meet Canada Summer Jobs requirements of being between 16 to 30 years of age; be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protections Act for the duration of the employment; have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • A satisfactory criminal records check is a condition of employment.
