THE OPPORTUNITY
Triton Environmental Consultants Ltd.

("Triton") is seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic
Aquatic Field Biologist to join a team of environmental professionals based out of our
Halifax, NS office.

This position will involve working out of town for periods of time, helping to support Triton's western Canada projects.

  • Provide technical leadership on the aquatic biology components of our projects within a team environment.
  • Manage, plan, and lead aquatic program(s).
  • Manage tasks and projects according to approved scopes of works and deliver quality reports on schedule.
  • Liaise with onsite client representatives and contractors.
  • Provide quality and independent reviews for projects.
  • Provide an understanding of environmental Best Management Practices and advise clients accordingly.
  • Work collaboratively within the Triton corporate culture.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in biology, environmental science, or related field
  • Technical knowledge in aquatics and fisheries biology
  • Environmental Professional (EP), Professional Biologist, or Registered Professional Biologist certification is considered an asset.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience
  • Backpack electrofishing certification is considered an asset, although not required.
  • Experience with environmental monitoring and/or environmental inspection
  • Fish sampling experience, using various techniques
  • Proven ability to work independently with mínimal supervision
  • Strong technical writing, reporting, communication, team leadership and project management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative working style
  • Superior problemsolving skills, with the ability to think outside the box
  • Valid driver's licence from a Canadian province or territory, acceptable for driving alone and with passengers in a work setting

SCHEDULE
This is a field - based position that will have a rotational shift schedule.

This position requires being able to work in remote and in outdoor field settings, for extended durations, while staying in a mix of camp and/or hotel accommodations.

DURATION
This is a temporary contract role, targeted to start approximately June 30 and going until October 31, 2024. There is potential for a contract extension or full-time position based on the volume of work and performance.
