The Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry is the largest faculty on the Western University campus and employs over 2,000 part-time and full-time faculty and over 1,500 staff.

The Department of Paediatrics encourages and develops innovative research in a collaborative setting focusing on child health.

Our undergraduate and postgraduate education programs enrich the student experience to provide the knowledge and skills needed to ensure exemplary care across multidisciplinary paediatric sub-specialties.

Exceptional specialized clinical care is provided to children in South Western Ontario from faculty committed to child health.

Responsibilities:

  • We are looking for a research assistant to support numerous projects surrounding child & environmental health for the Children's Environmental Health Clinic Ontario (ChEHC ON), at Children's Hospital LHSC. This includes helping implement the Land Base Healing | Nature for Healing program, involving prescribing nature connections & developing new naturalized areas ), knowledge translation work to promote the understanding of how environmental issues & climate change effect child health ), studies investigating the health effects of environmental issues and improving hospital sustainability.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant area of focus

Experience:

  • 1 year of work experience supporting research in a related technical field
Responsibilities would include

  • Help organize interdisciplinary meetings that include community members for various projects, take minutes & create agendas;
  • Opportunity to support research manuscripts for CV building & future experience;
  • Coordinate social media presence for ChEHC ON (we have infographics/educational material developed for the rollout aimed to support community engagement & knowledge translation).
  • Design infographics & social media videos, podcast editing, to support knowledge translation efforts.
  • Organize ordering/purchasing and posters/communications for the Land Based Healing | Nature for Healing
  • Skills, Abilities & Expertise:
  • Detail-oriented with an ability to function and process information with high levels of accuracy
  • Ability to employ a systematic and efficient approach to work
  • Personable and courteous in working relationships with colleagues, students and the public
  • Ability to collect and analyze data in an objective manner
  • Familiarity with regulations and guidelines governing research
  • Familiarity with methods for research design, implementation, and analysis
  • Familiarity with experimental design and analysis
  • Computer skills with the ability to learn and use software programs
  • Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve department goals
  • Verbal and written communication skills with the ability to document technical information
This is a part time posting of 15 hours a week (with flexibility to change weekly).
