POSITION PURPOSE:


Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, Transit Enforcement, is responsible for the administration of video services, collecting, cataloguing, storing and disseminating video images gathered from York Region Transit (YRT/Viva) surface vehicles, stations and other YRT/Viva buildings and facilities; processing CCTV images from various locations for the purpose of supporting investigations including criminal, risk management and operational matters; conducting video services in accordance with the standards set by YRT/Viva and Regional policies; assisting unit staff with investigations and the development and revision of video services policies and procedures; attending court on behalf of YRT/Viva, as required; providing evidence as it relates to CCTV images or footage; liaising with lawyers, contractors, staff, agencies and defendants regarding disclosure of video images; and liaising with various Police and security agencies on issues related to video services.


MAJOR RESPONSABILIES

  • Operate and monitor all CCTV systems within the unit in an efficient manner ensuring that all work is in compliance with standard operating procedures, legislation and codes of practice.
  • Assists members of the unit with investigations of a complex, confidential and sensitive nature as it relates to video services issues.
  • Assists in the development of video retrieval policies and procedures relative to the work of the unit and YRT/Viva.
  • Ensures video downloads are completed within the appropriate timeframes and that the proper documentation is completed.
  • Ensures that documentation, file and storage of CCTV is completed with established process and procedures.
  • Processes evidentiary video images in accordance with established standards.
  • Liaises and coordinates with representatives of contracted staff, police, security agencies, and unit staff on video related matters.
  • Participates on a variety of committees and attends internal and external meetings to discuss matters involving video services issues.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, in accordance with Branch and Department objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Successful completion of a Community College Diploma program in Law Enforcement, Security or Security Administration or related field or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum three (3) years' experience in law enforcement, investigations, or security administration.
  • Strong administration and organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated experience in the operation of security and CCTV equipment.
  • Experience interpreting and reviewing CCTV information.
  • Satisfactory Police Criminal Background Check.
  • Knowledge of court proceedings, rules of evidence and investigative process.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including communication, innovation, teamwork and collaboration, and personal ownership.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to retrieve analyze CCTV data and provide detailed accurate reports.
  • Valid Ontario Class "G" driver's license and reliable vehicle for use on corporate business.
