Located in the City of Lindsay, Bloom Retirement Community is looking for a Culinary Manager Chef - to fill a permanent full-time day (40h) position.

All services in the organization are designed to meet the needs and well-being of our residents. Create and play with flavours, textures and presentations to make a positive impact in our resident's life

Specifically, your daily life with us will look like:

  • Take charge of culinary department, develop varied, colorful and tasty menus
  • Ensure and optimize quality standards in the use of food
  • Collaborate with the kitchen staff to ensure great teamwork
  • Maintain inventory of food, utensils and equipment
  • Develop and maintain a food cost budget
  • Perform meal preparation while supervising and mobilizing staff in the kitchen
  • Use products and equipment according to the safety, quality, hygiene and cleanliness rules and standards in effect
  • Cleaning of the kitchen equipment
  • Visual aspect of meals
  • Providing direction to the staff regarding prep work, plating of food and the orientation of new employees
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

  • Experience with hospitality/cruise ship lines

Required qualifications:

  • Grade 12 minimum education required
  • Red Seal designation or graduate of a recognized college food preparation program
  • Strong computer skills
  • A professional studies diploma in institutional cuisine or equivalent
  • At least 3 to 5 years of experience in a large restoration's volume
  • Strong written and spoken English
