PROJECT MANAGER, RESEARCH ANALYTICS & PRIVACY

CONTRIBUTING TO THE CMPA


The Research & Analytics group captures corporate and medico-legal data, generates insights and translates knowledge to inform data-driven business decisions and evidence-informed safe medical care products.

This group also leads support for the CMPA on privacy matters, which includes maintaining the privacy framework, implementing, and maintaining the corporate privacy plan.

This group contributes to the key strategic objective of advancing safe medical care, in collaboration with other internal departments and stakeholders, by leveraging our knowledge and expertise to identify member needs, better understand their medico-legal risks and create corporate and safe medical care analytic and knowledge translation products.


POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Executive Director of Research & Analytics, the Project Manager, Research Analytics & Privacy is responsible for creating and developing processes, connections and planning and managing projects to support the organization's goal to become more data-informed in its decision making and operations

This includes:

planning and managing data and research projects in collaboration with many capability areas across the Association; working closely with departmental leadership to manage the internal Data & Analytics Oversight committee, a decision making body which sets organization wide data and analytics priorities around the collection, use, and analysis of data; collaborating with other Coordinators to ensure data and analytics requests are delivered on time and to the highest quality; and creating and nurturing an organization-wide Analytics community of practice to ensure best practices in analysis, communication & visualization of that analysis, and consistency in use and interpretation of data.


POSITION ACTIVITIES

Project Coordination

  • Learn and understand client business needs objectives, align project goals and plans to these objectives.
  • Support the development of the business case, business objectives, and budget at project initiation and review and refine them throughout the project's life cycle.
  • Define project scope, goals, and deliverables that support business objectives in collaboration with the senior leadership team and internal stakeholders; effectively refine and manage the scope of the project as appropriate.
  • Define metrics with stakeholders to measure project performance.
  • Produce and maintain appropriate project and communications documents; regularly communicate project status to all stakeholders.

Committee Support

  • Work with senior leadership to develop the agenda of the Committee based on sound understanding of the role data and analytics can play to contribute to the organizations priorities, to the issues facing Canadian physicians and healthcare, and the medicolegal environment.
  • Liaise with departmental leads to identify issues and topics.
  • Support the logistics of the Committee.
  • Coordinate meeting arrangements and working closely with other staff.
  • Compile agenda materials and other required documentation.

Building a community of practice for the organization's analysts and data practitioners

  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with clients, project team members, and other departments involved in the project; promote project stakeholder satisfaction by addressing issues in a timely manner.
  • Proactively identifies opportunities that deliver benefit to community either through new projects or quality improvement initiatives where existing processes can incrementally be improved. Provides recommendations to management for input on strategic decisions.
  • Maintains uptodate knowledge of relevant trends, emerging topics, and best practices in data and analytics. Identifies trends that may support or impede the success of the department/organization.
  • Facilitating discussions that build consensus and in turn contribute to guiding the various teams towards innovative solutions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 4 year Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study (e.g. Engineering, Business Administration, etc.).
  • Designation or certification in Project Management or Process Improvement (e.g. PMP, Six Sigma, etc.) an asset.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience leading and managing projects.
  • Experience in a data and analytics department / organization, or healthcare organization an asset.
  • Experience managing multiple, concurrent projects involving crossfunctional groups including planning, coordination, risk mitigation, and successful project delivery.
  • Experience working with senior decision makers, staff and a variety of stakeholders.
  • Strong change management and facilitation skills developed on a significant project or within a large organization.
  • Bilingualism (English / French) an asset.
