JOB SUMMARY:


The mandate of Solid Waste Services is to dispatches problems and complaints to contractors and field staff and records/follow up.

Provides customer service support for Collection Operations. Collects field data and maintains collections and operational databases.

You are responsible for carrying out solid waste maintenance activities within the assigned geographic area.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High School Student - minimum completion of Grade 10

Minimum of 1 year but less than 2 years of related experience is required

Previous experience working in outdoor environment performing physical labour work associated with solid waste maintenance activities

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES:

Valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver's licence (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Must be familiar with all applicable health and safety legislation, have knowledge of any potential or actual danger to health or safety in the work place, and have knowledge of appropriate actions to be taken in order to ensure the health and safety of staff in accordance with applicable legislation and City policies and procedures.

COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability and willingness to operate small and light equipment (e.g. lawnmower, trimmer, leaf blower, etc.)
  • Must be able to:
  • Follow directions
  • Work responsibly with minimum supervision
  • Work well in a team environment
  • Ability and willingness to lift heavy objects
  • Ability and willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • CSA approved work boots are required and have own transportation.
