The Program Coordinator will develop a curriculum of face-to-face, blended and online learning options for the CECP.

Knowledgeable about the practices of professional education, the Program Coordinator develops and promotes profitable, high quality, innovative and engaging market-driven courses and programs while building relationships and creating program profile and visibility with the affiliated professional associations and related community stakeholders.

These latter roles will facilitate engaging qualified professionals as course instructors.

The UBC School of Social Work is a member of the Canadian Association for Social Work Education (CASWE). Both the BSW and MSW programs are fully accredited by the Board of Accreditation of CASWE.

UBC-Vancouver's Point Grey Campus is located on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territories of the Musqueam people, with whom UBC shares a framework Memorandum of Affiliation.

Organizational Status

The incumbent reports to the Director and Administrator of the School of Social Work.

The incumbent interacts and communicates with faculty members, students, staff, external professional social work organizations, and departmental offices of the Faculty of Arts, and other academic and administrative units on campus as required.

Work Performed


Responsible for development of a plan to create, promote, maintain, evaluate, and continually improve market-oriented professional certificate and continuing education programs designed to deliver an engaging participant experience to facilitate lifelong learning and advance careers.

On approval of the plan, the incumbent will work to its implementation.


Responsible for the design and development of innovative programs to attract new participants to drive unit revenue, including identification of market sector needs, responsive and creative program offerings and appropriate instructors.


Partners with our faculty and community stakeholders in the development of marketing messages and promotional copy for print, digital and social media.

Facilitates informational and promotional sessions about the CECP curriculum.

Develops relationships with other units and departments on campus and in the external community.


Responsible for the collection and analysis of CECP participant satisfaction surveys and instructor evaluations and making recommendations and implementing appropriate programmatic change.

Takes the appropriate action within unit guidelines to address participant and programmatic issues and concerns.

Participates in the establishments of financial budgets and performance metrics to determine the optimal allocation of resources for program delivery and support, with consultation and reporting to the Director and School Administrator or their designates


Reviews budgets to actuals for reporting purposes, manages requisitions and payments and ensures protocols are in place for financial transactions.

On the basis of review results, advises the Director with respect to suggested changes.
