Job Summary


The Office of the Vice-President, Health has the mandate of facilitating and advancing the integration of interdisciplinary collaborative health education across UBC.

The Education Program Manager is responsible for operationalizing strategic collaborative health education initiatives in the Office of the Vice-President, Health and leads the effective delivery of complex interprofessional education curriculum programs and activities.

This position plays an integral role in operationalizing UBC Health's mandate to deliver interprofessional education programming, which involves collaboration with faculty, staff, and diverse patient and community partners, and coordination across multiple schools, departments, faculties and campuses.

UBC Health is responsible for driving the vision of the Vice-President, Health portfolio by promoting an integrated approach to collaboration amongst all health programs at UBC and with external partners in the health sector.

UBC Health reports to the Office of the Vice-President, Health and serves as a resource to all health disciplines at UBC.

The Education Program Manager reports to the Assistant Director, Education.

The incumbent receives high-level strategic direction from the Assistant Director and Director of Education to manage initiatives delivered as part of the education portfolio of UBC Health.

As a key member of the education team, the incumbent works in close collaboration with other members of the Office, faculty leads and staff from various health disciplines, and patient and community partners internal and external to UBC to facilitate the delivery of complex interprofessional programming.

Work Performed

  • Leads the planning, implementation, and evaluation of universitysupported collaborative health education initiatives set out by the UBC Health Council and the Collaborative Health Education Committee.
  • Manages the delivery of complex interprofessional curricula for students from 14+ health professional programs located at distributed locations across the province, requiring coordination and collaboration with their respective departments and schools.
  • Collaborates with faculty and staff from 14+ participating health professional departments and schools to establish optimal delivery of complex interprofessional curricula and resolve complex issues.
  • Manages interprofessional education activities by prioritizing, planning, developing and overseeing work processes, program schedules, and communications plans.
  • Oversees the work of the Education Program Assistant and other team members involved in coordinating the delivery of interprofessional education activities.
  • Manages recruitment, development, training and support of facilitators/moderators, including people with lived experience (e.g. patient facilitators), for collaborative health education programs organized by UBC Health.
  • Prepares agreements and coordinates remuneration for patient facilitators.
  • Develops and maintains communications and relationships with patient facilitators, supports their participation in interprofessional education activities, and troubleshoots concerns.
  • Determines and negotiates resource requirements for the delivery of interprofessional curricula.
  • Contributes to new education projects and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborates with educational experts and patient facilitators in the planning and evaluation of inperson and online curriculum materials and programs.
  • Participates in meetings of the Collaborative Health Education Committee, coordinating initiatives and recommendations that arise from the Committee.
