We are seeking a dedicated Program Coordinator driven by our mission to foster more accessible, diverse, and just communities throughout Canada where individuals with low vision can access boundless opportunities and lead lives free from obstacles and bias.

Your Role at CNIB
  • Support in executing and overseeing top-notch program activities and workshops.
  • Engage participants through intake procedures and prepare them for successful involvement in the Come to Work program by linking them with suitable community resources, including vocational partners.
  • Offer continuous guidance and mentoring to newcomers to vision loss and/or students under the Come to Work program.
  • Contribute to building a stellar team driven by passion, determination, ambition, and a positive attitude to positively impact lives and society. Ensure adherence to all of CNIB's policies and protocols.
  • Play a role in forming robust community ties through outreach endeavors by recognizing, forming, and nurturing solid and fruitful relationships and partnerships within the community.
  • Advocate for and raise awareness about vision loss through public education efforts and internal training sessions.
  • Collaborate closely with the Program Lead and effectively work with the broader management team, local staff, and volunteers, as well as at a national level.

Qualifications

Who You Are:

Education and Certifications

  • Hold a university degree in a related field.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1-year experience in the employment and vocational field focusing on employment readiness, skills training, and career coaching.
  • Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred.
  • Familiarity and involvement with a non-profit organization is an advantage.
  • Demonstrate a proven track record of effective interpersonal skills, including establishing and nurturing positive relationships with service seekers, organizational partners, and team members.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with CRM platforms like Zoom, Skype, Microsoft Teams, and Salesforce is beneficial.
  • Understanding of job accommodation practices and assistive technologies.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills, with the ability to convey messages clearly to a dispersed audience.
  • Display strong time management, planning, coordination, and organizational skills.
  • Show a commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
  • Exhibit a professional demeanor, results-driven attitude, and flexibility.
  • Capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Personal or professional experience related to blindness and visual impairment is advantageous.
  • Personal or professional experience with assistive technology or accessible environments is a plus.
