Purpose:


Reporting to the Environmental Coordinator, the primary responsibility of the Environmental Monitor is to follow through full circle with the Environmental Sampling program in compliance with all permits, approvals and legislations.

The Environmental Monitor will ensure that proper field data is recorded and entered into the system as required

Responsibilities:

  • To ensure that all required environmental samples are collected, stored & shipped in accordance to permits, approvals and applicable legislation
  • Follow procedures for sampling, measuring or monitoring of surface water, groundwater and soil
  • Ensure accurate recording of field data
  • Data entry into spreadsheets
  • Assist in completing site environmental inspections in various areas of the operation
  • Assist in the implementation of planned reclamation projects
  • Assist with the preparation and documentation of the Environmental Working Committee meetings
  • To work safely by following site policies and procedures

Requirements:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required with an ability to work with others (team player)
  • Good computer skills with particular aptitude in working with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Ability to work in various types of inclement weather conditions in remote field settings
  • Knowledge and understanding of operation of 4x4 pickup trucks, outboard motors and other outdoor equipment as required
  • Strong commitment to working in a safe and socially responsible manner
  • Completed grade 10 education

Working Conditions:

The work schedule for this position is 14 days on, 14 days off, working 12-hour days
