Primary Function:

Responsible for planning, organizing, and controlling all aspects of the payroll function.

This includes, but is not limited to, administrative duties involving the development and maintenance of the payroll system, internal control records, and day-to-day processing operations and related accounting entries as needed.

Provides exceptional quality and delivery of timely and accurate payroll results.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare Canadian payroll and submit timely to ADP for processing
  • Prepare T2200 Forms
  • Assist with T4's and year end processes
  • Prepare offcycle payrolls and manual checks as necessary
  • Prepare and process US multistate weekly / biweekly payroll for an excess of 18 team members using SAP
  • Execute pre and post payroll audits to ensure accurate payments
  • Adhere to internal control processes including payroll balancing and other internal control compliance
  • Manage wage garnishments processed by ADP
  • Calculate and process compensation continuation payments
  • Critically review and analyze current payroll processes and recommend changes leading to best practice operations, update, and document processes
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors to assist with payroll audits
  • Build strong partnership with customers by providing superior service
  • Assist with payroll related projects as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • Knowledge of Canadian Payroll regulations is required
  • Knowledge of multistate tax regulations is a plus
  • Knowledge of multistate US payroll laws and practices is a plus
  • Demonstrate flexibility to work effectively with others in a wide variety of circumstances
  • Quickly and easily adapt to change and shifting priorities with enthusiasm
  • Strong communication proficiencies required to interact with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels
  • Superior timemanagement skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Detail oriented, exhibiting strong organizational, problemsolving, and analytical skills
  • Results oriented with the ability to achieve goals
  • Knowledge using Employee Central Payroll, SAP, ADP, and Kronos is a plus
  • Ability to exercise discretion with highly confidential information
  • Ability to work individually with no supervision

Work Environment:

  • 5% of time may result in travel
  • Position requires the ability to sit at a desk the majority of the time
