It has recently kicked off a national media campaign aimed at raising awareness about critical water issues and the cutting-edge solutions that are emerging to solve them.

AquaAction is on a mission to leverage the problem-solving drive of young innovators and get them tackling the complex water issues faced by so many communities and industries across Canada.

Since 2015, AquaAction's flagship program has been the AquaHacking Challenge, a catalyst for freshwater innovation led by young Canadians. Through AquaHacking, the organization is helping talented young Canadians take on real-life freshwater issues, offer concrete solutions, and tap into an extensive network of experts and mentors that will help them establish new enterprises and grow our economy while making a big impact on our environment. The AquaEntrepreneur program is a novel commercialization program that helps water tech companies expand into new markets and thrive as they build a new blue and sustainable economy.

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and creative Social Media and Events Coordinator to join our team and support our AquaHacking and AquaEntrepreneur programs and the promotion of associated initiatives. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic communication initiatives, managing alumni relationships, organizing and promoting events, and supporting global brand strategies under the guidance of the Director of Marketing, Communications and Fundraising.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, execute and track communications strategies to raise the profile of AquaAction's mission, programs, events and communities
  • Develop copy and visual graphics for social media
  • Post on AquaAction's social networks (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and X)
  • Communicate and interact with followers and subscribers
  • Participate and assist in creative briefs, and the development and implementation of global brand strategies to enhance brand awareness and reputation
  • Prepare monthly social network analyses
  • Support and develop all communications for our many programs, AquaHacking and AquaEntrepreneur
  • Develop and execute communications plan with the AquaNation and past program participants to foster strong relationships and support network for our community of innovative entrepreneurs
  • Plan and execute events to promote program objectives and engage stakeholders
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with marketing goals and objectives
  • Monitor and analyze program performance metrics to measure effectiveness and identify areas for improvement
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to enhance marketing strategies and tactics

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or related field
  • Proven experience in marketing, communications, or related role
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and French
  • Excellent organizational abilities and strong team spirit
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and collaborate with diverse teams
  • Familiarity with digital marketing tools and platforms (Canva, Hubspot, Monday)
  • Knowledge of event planning and management
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills
