Job Overview:

As the Kids Race Support, you will report directly to the Kids Lead.

Your responsibilities will be in direct support of the Kids Lead in all matters pertaining to course set up, building obstacles, marking course, race day operations, tear-down, packing all kids course material, and clean up.


This position is a contracted role which requires travel to our 7 events across Canada taking place from May - October. As the Kids Race Support, you will be required to travel 5+ days at a time.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Marking the Kids course
  • Lifting and setting up heavy obstacle parts, fencing, tents, and equipment
  • Building Kids obstacles
  • Driving tent stakes, grade stakes, rebar into the ground with a sledgehammer or mallet
  • Setting up barrier jackets and blade flags (branding)
  • Building the Kids course start and finish line areas
  • Performing duties in regards to Kids course race day operations
  • Breaking down Kid course obstacles, tents, fencing, flags, and barrier jackets
  • Packing obstacles into a bundle for transport
  • Remove all course tape and course marking stakes
  • Remove and discard all trash
  • Neatly packing all remaining Kids course equipment into Kids crates
  • Supervising volunteers
  • Attending all meetings on time, online, on site or telephonic (conference/Staff calls)
  • Adhere to all Spartan Race Canada, Provincial and Spartan safety standards
  • Complete all administrative responsibilities assigned or otherwise
  • Maintain all Administrative, Policy, SOPs, and Spartan Standards of Conduct on or off site.

Qualifications:

  • Proven leadership and management abilities
  • Proven success in a rapidly changing, high operational tempo work environment.
  • Have a proven attention to detail and ability to multitask
  • Possess a strong analytical mindset and approach to managing projects and problem solving.
  • Be proficient with the entire Microsoft Office Suite and cloud based computing software packages (Google Drive, Excel, etc).
  • Be willing to learn the procedures set in place, while maintaining an analytical and problem solving mindset to improve these procedures
  • Must be able to manage people with an efficient approach to accomplishing mission critical tasks

Requirements:

  • Be comfortable traveling 12+ days consecutively
  • Be prepared and comfortable with working outside in all severe weather situations
  • Frequently works 11+ hour days outdoors, in adverse conditions for extended periods of time.
  • Be capable of working closely with children
  • Possess a valid driver's license without restrictions; clean driving record.
  • Willingness to operate heavy machinery is an asset but not required
