The Toronto Blue Jays are seeking a Registered Dietitian to serve as our Major League Dietician for the 2023 season and beyond.

This is a position for an experienced dietitian with a track record of coaching and impacting the nutrition goals of high level athletes and will work with our Major League coaching and performance staffs to help support Major League players and their development.

The position will be based with the Major League team in Toronto and on the road during the season.

Responsibilities

  • Drive player development plans and accountability related to nutrition and body composition goals.
  • Educate players on key performance nutrition concepts and help drive behavior change around nutrition for players.
  • Provide 1on1 nutrition counseling and support to players and coaches.
  • Document player nutrition findings and goal progress using internal resources.
  • Interpret body composition data and appropriately communicate with staff and players.
  • In conjunction with medical and strength staff, come up with best practices related to hydration and supplementation.
  • Collaborate with ML kitchen staff around the creation and execution of pre and postgame menus and meals that adhere to our nutrition guidelines.
  • Work with ML kitchen staff to coordinate catering for road clubhouses when the team travels.
  • Collaborate with flight crew and ML coaching staff to establish best nutritional practices for team flights.
  • Provide oversight on ensuring appropriate sanitation and handling of meals, snacks and supplements in ML clubhouses.
  • Assist in updating and growing nutrition protocols and procedures across the organization.

Requirements:

  • Registered Dietitian with current registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration
  • Highly motivated and demonstrated problem solving ability.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • The ability to work a nonstandard work week, including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Experience working with multicultural populations.
  • Current passport.

Preferred Skills

  • Bilingual English and Spanish preferred.
  • ISAK credential preferred.
  • Basic X-Ray Machine Operator Certification.
  • ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification.
  • Experience working within professional baseball.
