Job Title: Dietitian Consultant

Southbridge Care Homes is seeking a highly skilled Dietitian Consultant to join our team. As a Dietitian Consultant, you will play a critical role in delivering support and expertise to our portfolio of Long-Term Care and Retirement homes.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide consultative support to our homes on dietary functions, with a focus on resident safety.
  • Collaborate with medical and other professional staff to determine nutritional needs and therapeutic diets for residents.
  • Review and provide input on seasonal menus and recipes for all Southbridge Care Homes.
  • Identify and address unsafe conditions or practices, including educating home-level leadership teams on risk management.
  • Ensure nutritional care and hydration program standards are met, in collaboration with Dietary Managers.
  • Assist Executive Directors with recruitment and selection of new Dietary Managers.
  • Provide onboarding and education to new Dietary Managers.
  • Maintain policies and procedures within all homes, and lead new initiatives and projects.
  • Provide routine consultative support to all homes, including auditing of kitchen and food storage areas, meal production sheets, dining service, and resident experience.
  • Ensure quality control of services and products provided by departmental staff.
  • Maintain records, statistics, and reports in accordance with internal and external policies and guidelines.
Qualifications:
  • Degree from a University with a Major in Food and Nutrition.
  • Registered Dietitian; Membership with the College of Dietitians of Ontario in good standing.
  • 3+ years management experience in a Long-Term Care setting in a similar role.
  • Exceptional ability to operate independently or as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to exercise tact and diplomacy.
  • Knowledge of the Fixing Long-Term Care Homes Act, 2021 and the Retirement Homes Act.
  • Excellent interpersonal, project, time management, and communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel extensively throughout the Ottawa Ontario region.
