Printer Technician

Position Summary:


We are looking for an experienced Printer Technician to join our team In this role, you would be responsible for servicing various hardware products such as printers, multi-function devices, copiers, etc.

and performing additional duties as required.

This role typically involves physical installation, transferring settings and/or data, and support for printers and other peripherals.

This role also requires travel and presence on client sites, be it commercial, healthcare institutions, government institutions, schools, and sometimes residential workspaces.

This position also involves routine maintenance and repairs of the previously mentioned devices.

In some cases-depending on geography or company needs-there may be a requirement to also perform basic work on desktop PCs and/or laptops.


Responsibilities:

  • Assemble, configure and install various types of printing equipment at client locations.
  • Must be able to connect individual devices to the customers network and install drivers onto PC/print servers.
  • Set up and connect devices to network systems to enable print/scan capabilities.
  • Test and troubleshoot equipment and devices to ensure proper functioning.
  • Perform routine maintenance on printing equipment to prevent breakdowns and optimize performance.
  • Diagnose and repair hardware and software issues (e.g paper jams, error messages, connectivity issues, etc.).
  • Replace defective components and parts (toner cartridges, drums, rollers, etc.).
  • Update and upgrade printer firmware and software to ensure compatibility with the latest running OS and security protocols.
  • Engage in continuous selfeducation to enhance technical knowledge and skills related to printers, copiers, and multifunction devices.
  • Explore available resources, technical manuals, and industry publications to expand expertise.
  • Pursue and obtain certifications from printing equipment vendors such as HP, Xerox, Lexmark, and others to demonstrate expertise with specific brands and models.
  • Attend workshops, seminars, and industry conferences to network with peers and gain insights into the latest technologies and best practices.
  • Train endusers and client staff on the proper use and maintenance of printing equipment when necessary.
  • Provide onsite technical support and troubleshoot printingrelated issues for users.
  • Perform regular quality checks to ensure that printed documents meet the required standards in terms of colour accuracy and print quality.
  • Calibrate and finetune equipment to maintain consistent output.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines when working with electrical equipment to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Adhere to documented escalation procedures to resolve customer and client issues.
  • Dispose of waste materials, such as used toner cartridges in an environmentally responsible manner.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with computers, electronics, mechanics, etc. is preferred.
  • Experience with printer assembly and repairs is preferred.
  • Previous experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge of manufacturers service advisory and parts lookup process are considered an asset.
  • Manufacturer certifications for printers is an asset.
  • Ability and willingness to work variable hours if necessary.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and travel to support surrounding areas as required.
  • Able to clearly and confidently communicate with customers and clients both written and orally as required
  • Exceptional customer service and communication.
  • Knowledge of desktop and laptop hardwares and softwares.
  • Competency with software network connectivity.
  • MS Office experience.

Requirements:

  • Able to lift up to 60 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Must have a VALID (Class 5) Driver's License
  • Access to your OWN vehicle
