The Director, Corporate Social Performance will work closely with Lundin Mining's Managing Directors, operations teams, corporate functional teams and the corporate executive team on corporate social performance, sustainability risks and opportunities related to exploration, operations, permitting and closure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership across the company to ensure strategic proactive management of social and reputational risks and opportunities.
  • Monitor relevant regulations, trends and issues which can impact LMC's reputation.
  • Engage with corporate external stakeholders and represent LMC in working groups, forums and industry associations.
  • Provide strategic guidance, training, mentorship and capacity building to site social performance, sustainability and other relevant teams.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with multiple departments on relevant risks, opportunities and priorities, including the Responsible Mining Management System (RMMS), reputation management, ESG, closure, M&A activities, diversity and inclusion, community investment, human rights, and other matters of policy, governance and compliance.
  • Oversee monthly and quarterly social performance reporting from operations and provide summary reports on key issues to LMC management on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Based on direction from Investor Relations, engage with priority investors and ESG research firms to support the development of profiles of ESG performance.
  • Provide expertise to the further refine and implement the sustainability strategy.
  • Act as a key contributor to annual sustainability reporting.
  • Ensure operations' community investment and stakeholder engagement activities address priority social risks and opportunities and ensure alignment with site LOMs and strategic plans.
  • Provide oversight on operations' community investments to ensure consistent spend, a focus upon meaningful investments, monitoring and evaluation efforts, and adequate annual budgets to manage social risks and opportunities.
  • Monitor operations' grievance mechanisms to ensure issues potentially impacting company reputation and operational stability are effectively managed and reported.
  • Ensure operations conduct the annual update of their 5-year strategic plans, implement their annual action plans, and report on milestone activities and outcomes.
  • Lead the development, implementation and management of systems, standards and tools for social elements of the RMMS ensuring that site compliance and best practices are aligned to international standards.
  • Collaborate with the Lundin Foundation to ensure alignment of community investment and stakeholder engagement activities at our operations.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Advanced university degree(s) in social performance-related fields such as international business, community development, development economics or communications.
  • At least 10 years of international experience in social performance.
  • Experience with global mining companies would be an asset.
  • Strategic understanding of global social performance issues, standards, and best practice relevant to the mining industry.
  • Expertise in social performance issues that can impact Company reputation such as human rights, ESG reporting, transparency, supply chain, diversity & inclusion and community investment.
  • Prior experience in developing, implementing and reporting social performance strategy and programs.
  • Proven ability to successfully communicate strategies with all levels of the organization and external stakeholders.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and team-building skills.
  • Spanish and / or Portuguese language ability would be an asset.
