Job Summary:


The Graduate Student Engagement Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of graduate professional skills program, graduate student ambassador/advisory program, and graduate events including orientation, research showcase events, including three-minute thesis, and other events as required.


Nature of work:


Reporting to the Manager, Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs, the incumbent is responsible for development, coordination, and administration of programming for graduate student engagement.


Responsibilities/accountabilities:

  • Program Coordination
  • Supports the design and development of graduate programming that foster and enhance professional skills
  • Collaborate with campus partners in the development of programs and sessions
  • Track student participation and progress in programs
  • Coordinate logistics for programming and workshops
  • Coordinates all aspects related to graduate student engagement initiatives

Engagement Activities**:

  • Coordinates graduate student orientation event(s) liaising with other units across campus to ensure a comprehensive orientation schedule
  • Runs Graduate Student Ambassador/advisory programming
  • Coordinates graduate research showcase events including threeminute thesis and builds partnerships with advancement and alumni for donors

Reviewing of Programming:

  • Provides administrative and logístical support during the consultation, execution and launch of new programming
  • Assesses professional development options available for graduate students, ensuring available offerings are consistent with overall Graduate Professional skills program map
  • Explores means of offering remote workshops and event participation for online and professional or parttime graduate students
  • Organizes focus groups and generates feedback from participants to ensure quality programming

Communication:

  • Develops a comprehensive communication plan for engagement initiatives to ensure maximum participation in events
  • Communicates and promotes programming and events to graduate students and the campus community
  • Maintains the Grad Pro Skills website ensuring information is accurate and uptodate

Required Skills:

  • Commitment to excellent customer service
  • Excellent written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in the use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Confident in presentations and public speaking to an audience of less than 50

Required Education:

Completion of a University Program consisting of four academic years or equivalent

  • Verification of Academic credentials may be required

Required Experience:

  • 35 years' experience in a university setting is preferred
Experience organizing and running even
