Reporting to the Head of International Corporate Communications, you will work with teams across Block to communicate externally a full range of corporate initiatives, build community partnerships and advocate for legislation and regulation for more inclusive economy.

You'll be a bridge between the two disciplines and help build our political and corporate brand in Canada.


You'll collaborate with teams across Block, including legal, operations, compliance, finance, and partners within Square, Cash App, Spiral, TIDAL and TBD.

Block has a distributed work model as well as offices in Toronto and Kitchener in Canada.

You will:

  • Become an expert on Block, and its businesses, including Square, Afterpay, Bitkey and more.
  • Build trusted relationships with media, policymakers, partners and community organizations on behalf of our building blocks.
  • Advocate for removing barriers that keep people from having equal access to the economy.
  • Track and engage on legislative and regulatory developments across relevant policy areas.
  • Collaborate with communications and government relations agencies and liaise with trade associations.
  • Develop written materials, including messaging and statements, press releases, newsletters, communications and public affairs plans, and other collateral.

Qualifications:

You bring:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in strategic communications and government relations.
  • Previous experience at a communications or public affairs agency with technology companies or publiclytraded companies. Or government experience with communications and stakeholder relations responsibilities.
  • Existing relationships and experience working with media, government and community organizations in Canada.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills.
