Reporting to the Senior Technical Accounting Manager this role is integral to the accounting and financial reporting cycle, providing support and guidance on technical accounting matters, along with coordinating the preparation of the consolidated financial statements, ensuring completeness and accuracy, in compliance with IFRS Accounting standards.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Analyze transactions and document accounting positions to ensure accurate accounting and disclosure.
  • Monitor and assess the impact of new and emerging accounting standards and lead the implementations as applicable to the company.
  • Provide technical accounting training to broader finance team and business partners
  • Responsible for the general ledger structure and consolidation rules in Workday to ensure financial statements reflect company organization and filing requirements
  • Build and maintain accounting policies and internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR)
  • Direct monthend and quarterend accounting and financial reporting activities for the parent company and certain subsidiaries
  • Review subsidiaries' financial statements for accuracy and completeness
  • Liaise with external auditors during quarterly interim reviews and yearend audit
  • Lead all aspects of the accounting and financial reporting for defined benefit plans
  • Recommend operational improvements and participate in the implementation of projects
  • Foster positive relationships with management throughout the company to better understand and consult on business issues

Must Haves:

  • University undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting
  • Canadian CPA designation (or equivalent)
  • 5+ years of experience in public accounting and/or financial reporting role in a publiclytraded company
  • Indepth understanding of IFRS Accounting Standards and working knowledge of external reporting requirements for publicly traded companies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, along with superior presentation skills
  • Analytical, problemsolving, and decisionmaking capabilities
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, coupled with a bigpicture strategic understanding
  • Effective and positive management style supporting staff through example, coaching and development
  • Works effectively across organizational lines and promote an effective teambased environment
