Chinatown Recovery Coordinator 1 temporary position up to 11 months- Job Number : 45364This position will support Chinatown Recovery and the actions contained within the Chinatown Strategy, as well as the administration of the Chinatown Recovery Fund, through assisting businesses, business associations, property owners, social organizations, and nonprofits with an interest in Chinatown in recovering from the pandemic and the current social issues and growing the local economy.

With a focus on the City of Edmonton's Cultural Commitments to Safe, Helpful, Accountable, Integrated and Excellent, you will:

  • Lead operational planning for the Chinatown Recovery Fund
  • Provide support for the planning and operations of the Chinatown Recovery Fund, including responding to inquiries, coordinating meetings, agenda setting, recording minutes and committee decisions
  • Develop strong relationships within the community and create program awareness by providing information, support and guidance for the program
  • Prepare briefings, reports and presentations for City Council and Committees
  • Support the implementation of Community Safety and Well Being items and Downtown Core and Transit Safety projects and programming in Chinatown
  • Meet with, respond to, and document internal and external stakeholder needs, issues, and concerns
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders on information sharing and best practices by hosting informal sessions, tracking City of Edmonton activity in Chinatown, championing the wins and learning from the losses, maintaining and updating metrics, measures and the roadmap, reporting on progress towards key success factors.
  • Develop program guides for funding programs, procedures and recommendations
  • Complete a review and refresh of the Chinatown Strategy
  • Provide advisory role to committees and teams related to Chinatown Recovery, and advise on the coordination of activities of other internal and external stakeholders to achieve the desired outcomes
  • Identify reliable, accessible sources of information, conduct economic and community development research, and prepare recommendations
  • Ensure a GBA+ lens is applied to all section strategy, policy and research activities
  • Develop program metrics and performance measures, collect data, and report on results
  • Perform other related duties as required
  • Qualifications:
  • University degree in commerce, business administration, public administration, recreation, or another related field
  • Training and/or experience with project management and community engagement
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a combination of economic development, business support, project management and stakeholder engagement
  • Demonstrated experience in the public or private sector to understand complex economic development issues, gaps, and the ability to implement actions for resolution is an asset
  • Knowledge and demonstrated skills in the areas of change management, performance measurement, policy development, business case development, and strategic and business planning
  • Knowledge of municipal, provincial and federal economic policies and strategies
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment
  • Strong verbal communication and presentation skills to influence and inform leadership decision making
  • Excellent writing skills and significant experience with business writing, including reports, business cases, and briefings
  • Proven negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Experience in developing performance measures and metrics
  • Hire is dependent on Police Information Check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton, and there may be a cost associated with this requirement
