About Us:
The Public Safety and Emergency Services, under the authority of the Emergency Management Act, leads the coordination and co-operation of all organizations involved in emergencies and disasters.
The Alberta Emergency Management Agency (AEMA) is accountable and responsible to the GoA, to Albertans, to their communities, and to industry for the protection of people, their property and the environment from the effects of emergency events.
The AEMA accomplishes its objectives by leading the co-ordination, collaboration and co-operation between all entities involved in prevention, preparedness, response and recovery activities within this diverse system.
Role:
As the Business Standards Analyst Information Management Technology (IMT) in the Recovery Branch, you will be responsible for the records management program including engaging in various records management activities, conducting systematic reviews of records, planning and executing migrations, preparing inactive or obsolete records for storage and/or destruction, training staff, consulting and providing technical advice.
The role collaborates with teams across the Branch and with IT business analysts, Information Management Analysts, FOIP, Litigation, and Security specialists across the GoA to meet Branch needs in a way that meets GoA policies, guidelines, and standards.
The Business Standards Analyst:
IMT primary focus is the following
- Maintain alignment with crossgovernment ICT and IM standards and develops documented standards/procedures that follow current industry best practices for implementation, including security compliance, Information Management compliance, and IT compliance.
- Work with the Branch and their stakeholders to ensure that available IMT services meet their needs, and that there is a clear understanding of the service model.
- Work with internal teams and other GoA IMT/IM resources to maintain and enhance information systems to establishing an environment that promotes selfsufficiency.
- Accountable for providing advice on how to implement controls that meet audit requirements
- Provide business analysis services to Recovery Branch staff at all levels to identify and help address a wide variety of needs related to Recovery projects and day-to-day business processes.
- Support or cover on other projects led by the team in the event of absence or other capacity constraints.
- Provide support to internal and external projects in accordance with project management principles, standards, and best practices.
- Strong oral and written communications skills

This position may be required to work in the Provincial Operations Centre or on field assignment as needed during emergencies in order to coordinate provincial emergency response efforts and/or support/advise/assist government ministries, municipalities, First Nations and/or other organizations.
In these circumstances, the position may require working extending and irregular hours and/or shifts with mínimal or no notice, particularly during emergencies and exercise.
Qualifications:
A university degree in a related field, supplemented by at least two (2) years of related experience is required. See below for equivalencies.
Equivalencies are:
A related two-year diploma and a minimum of four (4) years of related experience; a related one-year certificate and a minimum of five (5) years of related experience; or a minimum of six (6) years of related experience.
Other requirements include:
- Experience with SharePoint 2016 and SharePoint Online
- Understanding of electronic record taxonomy, controlled vocabulary, retention & disposition, record transfer, and how they relate to ECM platforms and associated technology.
- Experience in records migration
- Experience with project management
