Allied Universal is seeking a professional Security General Manager in Edmonton , Alberta.Overview:Allied Universal is seeking a professional Security GM to oversee the security operations in one of our premier industrial locations in Edmonton, Alberta. As a senior position, the Security GM is responsible for managing all aspects of security, life safety, Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S), and security systems technical support within the designated portfolio. The ideal candidate should be skilled in personnel management, with experience in industrial security, with former policing, military, or extensive security background.Requirement:
  • At least 3 + years of experience in security, policing or military
  • At least 2+ years of managing a team of 5+ people
  • Experience with access control systems like Gentec, alarm monitoring, and CCTV.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Advanced computer skills for operating technology at client-specific sites.
  • Ability to handle crisis situations calmly and efficiently.
  • Must have a valid Alberta Security License.
  • Must have a valid Class 5 (non-GDL) Driver's License.
  • Willingness to work in various environments, including cold weather, rain, or heat.
  • Must have a valid Alberta Security License.
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada up to 40 hours a week
  • First Aid and CPR
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be able to pass drug & alcohol testing
  • Must pass site orientation
  • High school diploma or equivalent/GED or equivalent work experience
  • Physically capable of standing or walking for long periods, climbing stairs, and occasionally lifting or carrying up to 20 kilograms.
  • Must be able to upgrade from security licence to security investigators licence with in 6 months of hire. Paid for by Allied.
Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and manage the security department to ensure safe and efficient operations, in accordance with company policies and operational guidelines.
  • Safety is a priority from making sure proper PPE is used to 3 point contact on stairs.
  • Train, coach, and support subordinate security staff to ensure they meet company standards.
  • Coordinate with other stakeholders addressing their security-related needs in a timely and professional manner.
  • Monitor and maintain the highest standard of security personnel conduct, ensuring proper patrols and adherence to dress code and discipline.
  • Conduct regular "spot checks" to ensure effective communication and information transfer among security personnel.
  • Review and coach security guards on report writing and ensure proper documentation of incidents and activities.
  • Schedule security personnel for optimal coverage while adhering to employment standards and company guidelines.
  • Conduct table-top training exercises for critical incidents with security, management, and operations staff.
  • Maintain and update the Crisis Response Plan and site-specific information related to emergency protocols.
  • Conduct annual audits of departmental policies and training to ensure best practices are met.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with external service providers and other departments to foster cooperation.
