Job Summary

The Work Integrated Learning and Co-op Office works with industry, faculty, and students to provide excellent WIL opportunities to students through a variety of WIL Programs. Reporting to the Student Development Manager, the Student Development Coordinator will provide comprehensive, accessible, progressive resources and services for WIL students to assist them in identifying their goals and enhance their skills relative to their discipline and work readiness, employment opportunities, career experiences and other aspects associated with student success in work-integrated learning.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, implement and evaluate key services for student stakeholders by providing guidance and advice to WIL co-op students on a variety of topics ensuring their success in gaining and maintaining employment opportunities. Implement strategies on co-op curriculum and educational programming to support the student's WIL co-op experience. Recommend new programs based on analysis of feedback from students, employers, emerging trends and other schools. Ensure open communication and education with stakeholders (internal and external) as an integral part of ongoing promotion and delivery of WIL co-op programs. Specifically, working with faculty, students, employers and other stakeholders to maintain full support for policy, procedures and overall requirements for the WIL co-op program. Establishes and enforces policies for student participation in co-operative education for the faculties of Architecture and Planning, Computer Science, Engineering, Science, and Sustainability. Consults with faculty co-op advisors and students in order to assure that opinions, suggestions are considered.

Note

The candidate may be required to travel and take part in work during evenings and weekends for program related events and workshops (rare).

The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.

Required Qualifications

Undergraduate degree in Business, Human Resources, Marketing or other relevant field, plus approximately three to five years' relevant experience or more in a comparable client-based setting (or equivalent combination of training and experience). A certificate in Adult Education, Counseling or Career Counseling. Strong interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills. Strong time management and prioritization skills with the proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Must be self-motivated with the proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Proficiency in MS Office and SharePoint and the demonstrated ability to learn new tools.

Assets

Experience in work-integrated learning (such as co-op), career education. Experience within a university environment. Experience with the Appreciative Advising framework.
