We are currently looking for an Accounting Assistant Internship to join our team of committed professionals.

This full-time 1-year contract position within the Association is housed at the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario's Durham location in Sudbury.

Under the leadership of the Finance Manager, the Accounting Assistant is responsible for supporting the Controller and Finance Manager with preparing journal entries, accounts payables, account receivables, supporting the monthly closure and participating in the data entry process.

RATE OF PAY:
$44,252 per year

HOURS: 40 per week

Major Responsibilities

  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Assist with financial audits
  • Participate in required meetings and provide input
  • Oversee accurate bank reconciliations
  • Ensure all administration filing systems are maintained
  • Data Entry
  • Other duties as assigned by the Association

Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong understanding of computerized accounting, registration and billings adminstration
  • Current and satisfactory Police Record with Vulnerable Sector Check
Internship Requirements
- be able to commit to a 40 hour work week for the duration of the internship
- be either new entrants into the workforce, transitioning to a new career, or unemployed or underemployed and entering a new field
- have not previously participated in NOHFC's People & Talent Program
- be at least 18 years of age
- reside in Northern Ontario
- be legally entitled to work in Canada
