Position Overview

Located at our Scarborough facility, the Logistics and Third-Party Logistics (3PL) Manager will supervise and manage a team to ensure the smooth flow of goods and services, oversee import/export transactions, and be accountable for 3PL operations across multiple global locations. The ideal candidate should possess expertise in Logistics, EDI processes for major retail accounts such as Amazon and Costco, inventory management, and 3PL oversight, with a solid grasp of import/export regulations. This role will involve leading a small group of Logistics and EDI coordinators and will directly report to the Vice President of Operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transportation Coordination: Manage transportation activities, including route planning, carrier selection, and negotiating freight rates to ensure timely product deliveries, cost efficiency, and compliance with regulations.
  • EDI and Retail Account Management: Provide EDI support to the logistics team and sales, interact with sales & IT for setting up and managing accounts.
  • 3PL Management: Oversee day-to-day operations of 3PL partners, including order fulfillment, performance tracking, invoice validation, issue resolution, and customer care.
  • Performance Monitoring: Establish KPIs to evaluate logistics performance, utilize data for identifying areas of improvement and implementing corrective actions.
  • Compliance and Regulations: Ensure adherence to customs, transportation, and safety regulations, stay updated on industry changes to mitigate risks and ensure compliance.
  • People Management: Recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing team, conduct evaluations to align with business goals, provide training and support for team members.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive initiatives for process optimization, cost reduction, and improved logistics efficiency, foster innovation to address challenges.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential supply chain risks, develop contingency plans, proactively manage issues such as inventory shortages and delays.
  • Financial Management: Develop and oversee logistics budgets, monitor expenses, identify cost-saving opportunities, optimize spending while maintaining service levels.
  • Operational Accountability: Ensure inbound and outbound shipments meet customer expectations and commitments from 3PL partners in various regions.
  • Vendor Negotiation: Engage in negotiations to optimize service agreements and costs with carriers, forwarders, and customs brokers.
  • Customer Demand Management: Coordinate work activities to meet customer demands, ensure on-time deliveries as per requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 years' experience in logistics/EDI/3PL environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years in a leadership or supervisory role in a production environment.
  • College or Bachelor's degree in operations/purchasing or related field.
  • Results-oriented, able to work in a fast-paced environment, strong interpersonal skills, willingness to learn and adapt, problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven track record in developing employees, excellent written and verbal communication skills, proficient in MS Office.
