The Manager, Asset Management, leads and directs an Asset Management team in development and support of the Asset Maintenance Plan.

This role has responsibility for total life-cycle costs for all contractually maintained assets, and meeting all relevant obligations and performance targets in the Operating Contract.


In addition, the role is responsible for providing oversight and management of all project work undertaken on the Canada Line.

This includes identification and classification of project work, establishing and maintaining the processes by which project work will be undertaken, managed, reported on, scheduled and executed.


The role is responsible and accountable for the Major Maintenance and Warranty Work budgets, as well as the Asset Management group operating budget.

This role is responsible for finding and utilizing any required technical, engineering or design expertise required in maintaining assets.

How will you contribute to the team?

  • Responsible for the planning and management to optimize the asset Life Cycle Cost (LCC) of all rolling stock and fixed assets, including trains, civil structures (buildings, guideway tunnel, bridges), track work, signaling, power distribution, communications systems, etc. under the Operating Contract agreement.
  • Ensures Asset Management Plans are maintained and accurate and that documentation is contemporary and modified to reflect updates and refurbishment as part of maintaining design configuration change management.
  • Identifies and champions initiatives to optimize the Asset Maintenance Plans in an effort to reduce LCCs for all assets. Monitors all asset performance and gathers any data required to perform reviews and analysis to optimize management.
  • Develops and publishes the Canada Line Annual and Five-Year Maintenance Plans per contractual requirements.
  • Develops and maintains the Canada Line Master Schedule of asset refurbishment in the Digital Twin with scheduled Major Maintenance, Warranty and large scale project work.
  • Provides support advice and direction on development projects to the Director of Systems Assurance, Sustainability and Innovation, the Maintenance Managers and the General Manager.
  • Participates in the development and signoff of major maintenance projects and ensures adequate resource is assigned to successfully implement work according to an accurate annual budget with funding as required to meet successful implementation of work.
  • Identifies and develops project management standards and skills required to complete all tasks and maintain the financial, scheduled and refurbishment performance as expected. Ensures project management training is contemporary and available to allow personnel to meet requirements.
  • Provides professional technical and project oversight of all major funded projects undertaken. These services will include such duties as planning, scheduling, reviewing alternatives, conducting financial and technical feasibility studies, implementing and ensuring rigorous change management procedures are followed and making recommendations for implementing work. This role will drive innovation and ensure best solutions are sought and implemented for all stakeholders.
  • Monitors all funded project performance, gathers data and perform reviews and analysis for management as necessary.
  • Manages assigned staff and work with staff to find resolution to technical and project issues using sound project and Asset Management practices while utilizing consultants and technical experts as required.
  • Responsible for the development of department talent pool to ensure collective and individual competencies are suited to meet organizational requirements.
  • Manages performance of department personnel including identifying individual strengths while supporting opportunities for improvement. Ensures that individual contributors comply with and deliver annual objectives aligned with departmental and organizational goals.
  • Support in deployment and facilitation of Asset Management digital solutions, including training sessions.
  • Ensures ongoing development of the digital twin to optimize asset condition monitoring, help optimize asset lifecycle cost and rehearse safe asset replacement
  • Lead in development of Asset Policies and Asset Management Plan, including asset life cycles.
  • Performs qualitative and quantitative analyses and presents data findings/outcomes.
  • Participates in investigations of serious incidents or service delays due to asset
