The Hatch Environment & Sustainability Group undertakes studies and delivers environmental services in the areas of Environmental Assessments (EA), planning, permitting, construction management, community engagement, sustainability/corporate social responsibility, climate change and related project delivery services.

Our wealth of engineering, environmental, procurement and construction management experience and our global footprint is highly differentiated in the growing environmental services market.

We are currently seeking a Specialist in air-quality and air-dispersion modeling to join the Environment & Sustainability team based in our Montreal office.


Responsibilities

  • Review local regulations on airquality that are applicable to projects located either in Quebec, Canada and around the world;
  • Collaborate with clients and the engineering team to obtain inputs required for modeling (define emission scenarios, mapping of emission sources and rates);
  • Setup airdispersion models and perform calculations (source characterization, meteorological data, etc.);
  • Extract and analyze results, propose and collaborate with engineers to identify mitigation measures (if needed);
  • Contribute to the development of computer tools to optimize the modeling process;
  • Write technical reports with recommendations.
  • Participate in project meetings.
  • Perform all other tasks to contribute to the realization of projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical or mechanical engineering or a related field;
  • Good critical thinking, autonomous, initiative, ability to work in a team;
  • Strong interest in computer science, programming and/or geomatics;
  • Knowledge of atmospheric dispersion modelling software and calculations (AERMOD and CALPUFF);
  • Minimum five (5) years of relevant experience;
  • Knowledge of processes and unit operations in industrial and mining environments (asset);
  • Knowledge of provincial and federal environmental laws, regulations and standards (asset);
  • Excellent oral and written communication;
  • Bilingual (French and English);
  • Available for occasional traveling.
