You will be a key player of the financial reporting team - leading, administering, and managing pivotal areas of the team.

Reporting to the Director of Financial Reporting, you will partner with internal and external project teams to assess, research, analyze and document accounting requirements, business and system requirements, and recommend solutions that meet various stakeholder/business needs.

You have a strong financial accounting background with an ability to build and understand various sets of financial reporting, prepare sound technical accounting analysis to arrive at the appropriate accounting outcome and continuously improving all reporting processes.

Additionally, you are an analytical problem solver who is investigative by nature, possess a precise attention to detail and has strong motivational and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for continuous improvement and optimization of key financial reporting processes identifying areas of improvement (with a focus on automation), developing remediation action plan and execution of the plan
  • Coordinate and support the build of quarterly and annual financial reporting including review of financial statements and preparation of the MD&A
  • Help lead the company's monthly accounting close and preparation of monthly internal and external financial reporting requirements
  • Maintain and enhance a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results and to ensure that reported results comply with International Financial Reporting Standards
  • Management and administration of intercompany and foreign currency (US and CAD) transactions between entities
  • Lead and support monthly reconciliations to GL ledgers and investigation of all reconciling items
  • Support the generation of and provide financial analyses as required for all business units
  • Maintain an orderly accounting filing system and system of controls over accounting transactions
  • Play a lead role in delivering the annual audit and interim review process working closely with the Company's external auditors
  • Support the business in the quarterly and yearly budgeting/forecasting process liaising with all business units and department heads
  • Contributing to the Finance team as a strategic thinker, highlighting concerns or potential risks in a proactive manner

Requirements:

  • Hold a CA, CPA, CGA, CMA designation in good standing
  • Experience completing accounting analysis and policy papers to support accounting decisions
  • Experience working with ERP system (eg. NetSuite) a plus
  • Experience with external audit engagements
  • Experience with FX hedging strategies is a plus
  • Expert level in Excel
  • Expert verbal and written communication skills
  • Financially fluent with a keen focus on drivers of the business not just the numbers
  • Demonstrated ability to perform under pressure
  • Proactive approach to planning and executing
