To support us on our journey, Sinai Health System is looking for a Clinical Coordinator (Sarcoma) to support our Surgery and Oncology Program.


The Sarcoma Program at Mount Sinai Hospital (in collaboration with Princess Margaret Cancer Centre) plays a unique role in the Ontario cancer care system aligned with the Sarcoma.

The surgical and medical oncology team sees patients from all over the province who are diagnosed with bone and soft tissue sarcomas.


As a member of the Nursing Leadership team, the Clinical Coordinator is responsible for supporting the nursing practice and education needs to enhance nursing development and patient safety in the Surgery and Oncology Program - Sarcoma team.


Responsibilities:

  • Utilizes and demonstrates a comprehensive theoretical knowledge base and advanced level of clinical competence in caring for complex oncology patients
  • Triage new patient referrals from across Ontario and enact as a consultant for the program's eligibility criteria
  • Collaborates with the Surgical Oncologists, Medical Oncologists and other members of the interprofessional team to implement the patient care plan and support the patient's navigation through all phases of cancer care diagnostic, surgical and systemic therapy
  • Facilitates the coordination of patient care in liaison with radiology and pathology departments, and external institutions (e.g. sarcoma multidisciplinary case conferences)
  • Acts as a clinical resource for patients, families, and other healthcare professionals from external institutions who are part of the patient's circleofcare,
  • Provides consultation and acts as key point of contact for the rehabilitation teams at Hennick Bridgepoint for patients transferred for ongoing care
  • Performs inperson or virtual nursing assessment on patients and provide patient education during and outside of clinic hours
  • Supports and maintains the philosophy, goals, objectives and standards of the Department of Nursing
  • Contributes to improvements in patient care and safety through supporting the consistent practice of patient care standards and leading the implementation of best practice guidelines in the Surgery and Oncology Program
  • Collaborates with the Surgical Oncologists, Medical Oncologists and other members of the interprofessional team to plan and implement relevant educational initiatives to support enhanced nursing knowledge and professional development
  • Participates in development, implementation and evaluation of quality and safety initiatives including the preparation for program accreditation
  • Performs other jobrelated duties as required (e.g. data collection for postop complications etc.)


Job Requirements
  • Current certificate of registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • BScN required, Master's degree in nursing preferred
  • Minimum 3 years' current experience in Surgical Oncology Nursing preferred
  • Experience in ambulatory care setting preferred
  • Proficiency in information technology (Powerchart, EPR, PHS, Coral Viewer etc.)
  • Demonstrated leader of patient and family centred care principles
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Excellent decision making, problem recognition, problem solving skills, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to work effectively and independently under stressful conditions
  • Proven leadership qualities, effective interpersonal skills and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
  • Participates as a member of the Centre of Excellence Nursing Leadership Team
  • Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history
