Fleming College, Toronto Programs is a public college-private partnership between Fleming College Canada (FC and Trebas), with academic delivery and student support services managed by Trebas.


FCT is currently seeking a proactive professional who is passionate about assisting students as they progress through their academic journey.

Working in Downtown Toronto, the Academic Advisor will be responsible for developing strategies for the student's overall academic success by bridging the gap between the various service providers on campus, and providing one-to-one consultations and counselling to students to follow-up on their academic progress throughout the semester.

This role also includes guiding students in scholastic decisions, and helping them analyze and determine strengths and ensuring that students are progressing towards their goals.


The Role


The Manager, Immigration Student Advising will lead a team of international student advisors, provide support in the delivery of pre-arrival and on-going initiatives for international students.


By coaching, training and closely monitoring the performance of the Team, the Manager will ensure that all KPIs are met, while maintaining a high level of employee satisfaction and low turnover rates.


The KPIs

  • Ensure the highest level of service to all stakeholders.
  • Ensure timely submission of DLI (Designated Learning Institution) report to the partners.
  • Build a dedicated team of RISIA/RCIC professionals with indepth knowledge and understanding of student visa policies and procedures.
  • Build frameworks for professional development to the ISA team.
  • 96% Accuracy rate for admissions decisions

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and explain existing policies and ensure compliance with applicable IRCC, provincial and federal laws and regulations.
  • Ensures that effective communication, interdepartmental linkages, and cooperative relationships are developed and maintained with all College support departments relating to operational activity.
  • Plan webinar schedule to educate international students on immigration policies and procedures.
  • Plan team's professional development activities in line with the approved professional development framework.
  • Conduct internal quality audits and present artifacts to identify gaps and take corrective actions.
  • Liaise with key departments on campus to establish SOPs (Standard Operating Process) and workflow procedures to better streamline initiatives.
  • Update senior management team on changes in immigration policies and procedures.

People and Team Management

  • Managing the daytoday activities of the team.
  • Responsible for hiring, organizing, leading, and managing the activity of the staff to provide a high standard of customerfocused administrative support.
  • Conducting constant training of team members to maximize their potential.
  • Conducting monthly performance reviews.

Relevant Experience

  • Postsecondary education is required.
  • Immigration Consultant Certificate (in good standing with College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants (CICC) as a Regulated International Student Immigration Advisor (RISIA) or Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC)
  • Minimum of 3 years of formal experience in advising students, developing, and delivering workshops, activities and events focused on student success and supporting students through transformative experiences
  • Exceptional level of attention to details, customer service, and stakeholder management skills
