Adopt-a-pond Outreach Technician, Species Recovery

BASIC FUNCTION:
Reporting to the Acting Supervisor of Species Recovery and working closely with the Adopt-A-Pond Program Coordinator this position assists with various conservation projects, with a principal focus on developing and delivering public outreach to support the Adopt-A-Pond Wetland Conservation Program.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides assistance with various conservation projects related to wetland conservation, specifically with respect to reptiles and amphibians, as directed by the Supervisor or Coordinator.
- Provides assistance with the program resources and educational materials related to the conservation projects.
- Delivers public outreach such as presentations and workshops.
- Provides assistance with report writing.
- Other related duties as requested by the Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have completed at least 1year of a postsecondary degree/diploma related to the field (e.g. Bachelor of Education and/or Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science) or have the equivalent amount of experience and training.
- Must possess 6 months' previous experience related to the position (e.g. outreach and presentations)
- Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and be proficient in English
- Must be able to create enthusiasm and a positive impression with each audience
- Must possess above average organizational skills, along with a proven ability to pay attention to details.
- Must be capable of working with minimum supervision, and as part of a team.
- Must be proficient in the use of computers, laptops, projectors, and software such as Word and PowerPoint programs.
- A valid G Ontario driver's license in good standing is an asset.
- May be required to work an occasional weekend
