This role requires full-time on-site presence.

CBC North seeks a curious storyteller adept at producing content for diverse media platforms. As a Reporter/Editor, you will source and present program material across audio, video, digital, and social channels.

The North embodies rich traditions and stories - stories of resilience, innovation, and community bonds. As part of this team, you will capture the essence of these narratives and contribute to the region's vibrant storytelling culture.

Your role and what you bring

In this role, you will engage with various sources, collaborate closely with your team, and excel in gathering, analyzing, and presenting information under tight deadlines. You will contribute to live news coverage, documentaries, and scriptwriting, shaping compelling narratives for CBC North's audience.

You will drive innovation, advocate for diverse storytelling approaches, and uphold CBC's journalistic standards in all facets of your work.

We are looking for a candidate with the following:

  • A deep grasp of the Yukon and Northern cultural and political landscape
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Openness to new ideas and approaches
  • Initiative, flexibility, creativity, and curiosity
  • Experience in fast-paced programing and handling breaking news
  • Proficiency in multi-platform production environments
  • Ability to leverage social media for sourcing and outreach
  • Organizational prowess and adept at meeting deadlines across platforms
  • Effective presentation skills for broadcast and live reporting
  • Experience in guest booking, questioning, and audio segment production
  • Travel willingness within Northern Canada
  • Flexible work hours and overtime availability as needed
  • Relevant degree with 3 years of journalism experience
  • Valid driver's license meeting CBC/Radio-Canada's criteria

Assets:

  • Proficiency in video shooting/editing and broadcast/web writing
  • Familiarity with iNews, Dalet, or similar tools
