The Drug Access Facilitator is responsible for coordinating access for patients to drug coverage by accessing government funding through programs and finding other reimbursement means for unfunded drug costs.

The Facilitator will work closely with pharmaceutical company representatives, physicians, pharmacy, social work and finance in the coordination of access and facilitation of Special Access Program drugs, coordination of Ontario Drug Benefit (ODB) or third-party submissions, and the coordination of private patient payments.

They may be involved in other related projects as defined by the Program.

Regular Full-Time

Rate of Pay:
$30.16 per hour to $37.72 per hour

Hours of work: 37.50 hours per week

Qualifications:

  • College Diploma
  • Pharmacy Technician or regulated health discipline
  • Member of Oncology Drug Acess Navigator of Ontario (ODANO)
  • Preferred
  • 2 years experience in a pharmacy setting or other health care hospital setting
  • Advanced retail outpatient pharmacy experience with public and private drug plans
  • Comprehensive knowledge of pharmacy 3rd party payers and assistance programs


Experience in oncology
  • Demonstrated organizational, facilitation, problemsolving, analytical and timemanagement skills
  • Proven ability to work effectively in urgent situations and demonstrate professionalism at all time
  • Proficient knowledge of Kroll Pharmacy Dispensing Software
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's vision, purpose and value
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

Immunization Requirements:

Before beginning employment at LHSC, all new hires will be required to:

  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis;
  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step);
  • Provide proof of Health Canadaapproved COVID19 vaccination reflective of Ontario Health's current definition of being fully vaccinated
