Reporting to Director, Supply Chain Excellence, the National Fleet, Maintenance and Compliance Manager will implement fleet management practices to ensure operational, financial and customer objectives are met while operating a safe fleet.


Position Responsibilities:

Compliance:

  • Ensure the TDL Fleet complies with all established laws, codes, rules, regulations, policies and procedures and available each day to complete deliveries
  • Managing driver compliance (CVOR) / drivers abstract.
  • Monitor the industry activity for changes in legislation that will impact transportation operations
  • Work with the National Manager Health & Safety on appropriate operational and reporting regulations and legislation. Ensure compliance with regulatory training requirements and MTO regulations is met.
  • Prepare and rollout training materials that impact Motor Vehicle Safety
  • Meet all commercial vehicle regulated requirements such as IRP, IFTA, DOT, ELD, National Safety Code, Transport Canada and all commercial vehicle related state and provincial requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with safety fitness certificates for each DC
  • Ensure license renewals for tractors and LCVs are conducted

Budget and Capital Expense Management:

  • Develop the annual budget for fleet capital expenditures.
  • Conduct vendor negotiations and assist in selecting the optimal and preferred vendor
  • Investigate industry options and trends and keep up to date with latest advances that could benefit TDL Fleet
  • Prepare specifications for new vehicle purchases.
  • Conduct specification reviews and work with Distribution Centre teams and the General Manager for National Distribution to get buyin for changes.
  • Get collaborative engagement and feedback within driver groups where required.
  • Organize and execute the sale of used TDL assets with the best market prices

Fleet Maintenance:

  • Determine the most appropriate repair and maintenance solutions for fleet and related equipment across the nation
  • Manage service levels for TDL vendors to ensure TDL Distribution has adequate, safe and reliable equipment. Be the escalation point within TDL Distribution for these discussions.
  • In cooperation with Transportation departments of distribution centers, plan, direct and monitor preventive maintenance and repair programs for fleet.
  • Train and mentor members of transportation departments with regards to fleet management, and support them to maintain low out of service percentages for TDL Fleet
  • Manage national contracts for fleet maintenance, fuel and other components.
  • Lead commercial negotiations and manage service level of national providers.
  • Monitor and evaluate vehicle maintenance trends, including time to service and time to repair. Introduce operational improvements.
  • Manage fleet maintenance budget on a national level. Analyze spend, conduct forecasting and introduce cost saving initiatives; create and implement appropriate cost management processes. Approve vendors that are permitted to work on Tim Hortons equipment on a consistent basis (more than once a quarter).
  • Coordinate execution of the trailer graphics program
  • Review financial and budget variances, review repair and approve account payable documents. Audit repair invoices for each DC and ensure monthly routines are correctly being followed
  • Assist with developing and managing asset utilization plans
  • Handle all internal and external inquiries regarding maintenance issues.
  • Maintain equipment database with all internal information and inspection and service history.
  • Review current vendors and pricing and ensure that pricing is most competitive.
  • Ensure equipment is up to date on safety and preventative maintenance
  • Provide analysis and opinion on Motor Vehicle Incidents after reviewing facts from multiple sources
  • Participate in commercial fleet training sessions and contribute where necessary.
