Description:

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Purchaser will plan, organize, direct, control, evaluate and perform the maintenance purchasing activities for the plant to satisfy internal customer requirements. They will manage maintenance expenses within an associated budget and control maintenance spare parts inventories / third party repairs.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and prioritize purchase orders according to budget and urgency within Oracle & CMMS
  • Invite tenders and negotiate annual maintenance contracts; periodically perform larger market analysis to ensure services are provided at the most efficient costs
  • Manage maintenance spare parts within CMMS and maintain inventory quantities as required (ex. Min/Max)
  • Perform recurring physical spare part inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies
  • Provide recommendations regarding national purchasing policies and procedures including quality control measures
  • Give input to the maintenance expense budget file and manage expenses within established parameters
  • Pull monthly reports on consumption and value for spare parts
  • Support maintenance planner duties during their absence
  • Perform other duties as required

Requirements:

  • 19+ years of age
  • Post secondary education with a focus on business, inventory management, or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years purchasing experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Computer skills with ability to use Microsoft Office software; excel at an intermediate level
  • Experience with managing Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS)
  • Experience in maintenance planning and inventory management considered an asset
  • Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation or working towards considered an asset
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Effective communication skills, written and verbal
  • Ability to demonstrate values compatible with the organization

Work Conditions:

  • Occasional travel may be required
  • Flexibility to respond to issues outside of working hours
  • Spends approximately 30% of time working in a production facility and remainder of time in an office environment
  • Must wear proper PPE to mitigate hazards present in production area
