Quantum Passivhaus is a Designer and Prefabricator of high-performance passive house

buildings. We are a team based, forward thinking company and constantly focused on building

innovation.

We specialize in the construction of residential and commercial buildings that meet the

International Passive House Institute Energy Standard (IPHI).


We are looking to expand our design team and require a full-time architectural designer with their BCIN (for Small Buildings).


Anticipated Start Date:
As soon as possible

Details of this position:

  • Permanent, Full time
  • 42.5 hours a week, overtime after 44h
- $31.50/hour

  • 10 vacation days/ vacation pay 4% on wages earned
  • Extended Medical, Dental, vision
  • Potential for bonus at discretion of Board

Job Duties:

The job responsibilities for an Architectural Designer include, but are not limited to the

following:

  • Consult with clients and conduct site visits
  • Produce design sets for client and inhouse review
  • Produce Preliminary design, schematic design, Conceptual design, IFC drawings,
construction drawings and permit sets

  • Prepare specifications and selections
  • Provide design recommendations based on factors such as budget, the building site, Passive House Standards and recent trends.
  • Analyze building codes, bylaws, space requirements, site requirements and other
technical documents and reports to ensure that all layouts and blueprints are compliant

with industry codes and legal standards.
Collaborate with other Architecture firms and

engineers

  • Collaborate with designers, engineers, energy modelers, contractors and estimators at
all phases of drawings

  • Modify designs to meet passive house criteria and/or client feedback in the project
scope of work

  • Assist in preparation/filing of documents required for submission to passive house
building certifiers

  • Prepare contract and bidding documents

Job Requirements

  • Architectural degree or diploma
  • Minimum 2 years of drafting experience
  • BCIN required
  • Ability to design with regard to parameters of local zoning bylaws
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Experience using AutoCAD, Revit, Sketchup, Illustrator, Lumion, Rhino and microsoft
  • Strong interest in green building methods and systems
  • Experience in or ability to learn Passive House Planning Program
  • Certified Passive House Designer designation, or ability to achieve this through Passive
House Designer/Consultant Training
