Reporting to the Provincial Director Warehouse & Logistics, the Provincial Manager, Inventory is responsible and accountable for managing and providing leadership to all processes related to medical & surgical supplies inventory for the Lower Mainland.

Ensures the planning, implementation and evaluation of related financial, human and physical resources are in support of strategic initiatives.

This position manages inventory management operations and resources across the Lower Mainland and ensures requirements of the organization are met efficiently and cost effectively, while focusing on patient care.


What you'll do

  • Participates in the strategic planning process related to inventory management for the SSO in the Lower Mainland; develops and implements short and long range inventory management goals and objectives in collaboration with the Provincial Director Warehouse & Logistics; ensures such plans support the vision, goals and strategic plans of the SSO.
  • Plans and manages the development, implementation and review of common inventory management policies, standards and procedures in alignment with SSO philosophies and practices; evaluates and effects changes as appropriate to ensure efficient and effective service delivery and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Manages and controls integrated inventory management operations across Lower Mainland sites, ensuring its integrity and efficiency is maintained.
  • Manages, administers and serves as the primary operational contact for all inventory related matters including product recalls, emergency response and pandemic inventory planning; consults internally with senior Supply Chain leaders; monitors and evaluates overall provision of services.
  • Manages and oversees the development of integrated inventory management processes and methods for project implementation resulting from strategic initiatives, ensuring that initiatives are carried out in accordance with the goals, policies and vision of the SSO.
  • Develops, plans and implements operating budgets including budget preparation, authorization, control and reporting of expenditures, ensuring the efficient utilization of financial resources.
  • Interprets and provides policy direction relative to inventory management across the Health Authorities in the Lower Mainland.
  • Provides leadership to all staff and motivates them towards the attainment of department and organizational goals. Develops and recommends an organizational structure to reflect the operational needs of the SSO; implements methods to measure and assess employee performance.
  • Ensures the recruitment and professional development of employees within the department. Responsible to oversee, and as required, participate in the management of human resource matters for the department.
  • Ensures the quality of service for SSO's customers and maintains Quality Assurance Programs.
  • Liaises with vendors and outside contractors to negotiate on behalf of the SSO; represents SSO Supply Chain at regular operational review meetings with external organizations as required; participates on committees as appropriate at provincial and national levels.

What you bring

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Management, Commerce or related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Seven (7) years related managerial experience with emphasis on replenishment systems, customer relationship management in healthcare or a related environment. Experience at a management level covering a broad spectrum of Materiel Services functions with emphasis on supply chain and inventory management. Experience in managing transition and converting systems particularly in an Inventory / Logistics role. Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work effectively within a multisite, multisector environment.
